Pins Privacy Policy
Pins ("we," "us," "our," or "the App") is operated by Brian Anderson. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Pins, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Pins, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Pins account, we collect your email address and any display name or profile information you choose to provide.
Golf Activity Data
We collect the information you enter about your rounds, including scores, courses played, dates, tee information, and related statistics. This data is core to how Pins works and is used to build your Passport, stats, and history.
Location Data
Pins uses course location data (GPS coordinates) to display courses on the Globe map and to help you search for and log courses you've played. If you add a custom course not already in our database, we may use the location details you provide to place it accurately on the map.
Photos
If you choose to upload photos of your rounds, we store those photos in connection with your account and the round they're attached to.
Friend and Social Data
If you connect with friends inside Pins, we store that connection so we can show shared activity, friend passports, and related features you've chosen to use.
Subscription and Payment Information
Pins offers optional paid subscriptions (Pins Pro). Payment is processed directly through the Apple App Store, and subscription management is handled through RevenueCat. Pins does not directly collect or store your payment card details — that information is handled by Apple.
Usage and Device Information
We may collect basic technical information such as app version and device type to help us maintain and improve the app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the core features of Pins, including your Passport, Globe, round history, and Friends tab
- Sync your data across devices when you're signed in
- Process subscription purchases and manage Pro access
- Send you notifications about milestones, friend activity, and app updates (which you can manage in your device settings)
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
How We Share Your Information
We share information only as necessary to operate the app:
- Supabase (our backend database provider) stores your account and app data securely.
- GolfAPI.io provides course data used to power course search and scorecards.
- RevenueCat and Apple process and manage subscription purchases.
- Friends you connect with inside the app can see the profile information, stats, and activity you've chosen to share through app features.
We do not share your personal data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.
Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Edit or delete round, photo, and profile information within the app
- Manage friend connections at any time
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below)
- Manage notification preferences through your device settings
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the app's features. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data, except where we're required to retain certain information for legal or accounting purposes.
Children's Privacy
Pins is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including relying on industry-standard security practices provided by our infrastructure partners (including Supabase). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Pins after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
